I say build upon the rock, and when the storms of life come, when the winds blow, and the rain beats down, it won't fall because it's founded upon the rock. The normal attitude of any child of God should be to "run to the altar" or to do whatever necessary to get all he or she can of God. Blessed is he that hungereth and thirsteth after righteousness, for he shall be filled." After people are "born again"/saved, they should desire to become mature---grow-up in the Lord, spiritually. You don't get spiritual maturity from the world. We're SAVED from the world. We're saved from all the things of this world that you have a knowledge of.
People know they ought not to do things that they know are wrong. They're saved from that.
We're talking about building on the rock, Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone, who set the pattern before us. We're talking about holiness. We're talking about following Him in His pattern and building by the pattern that He has laid. So we should respond when we hear the Word, and we should eagerly respond. We should want to get rid of all things that hinder our progress toward spiritual maturity.
We need to "sell out". We need to build upon Jesus and the doctrine of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said the winds came and the rains came, the winds blew and the house that was built on the rock stood. It'll stand because it was built upon the rock. That's the reason it did stand.
Now, needless ta say(?), church membership / joining church won't do this
for you. No indeed, it won't do it for you. Because you went down and were dipped down into the
water and you came up out of it, your sins are not washed away if you
did not accept Jesus and have not been born of the Spirit. People are
teaching today that water baptism will wash away sins. If you haven't
already repented and been born again, all you can do is go down a
dry sinner and come up a wet sinner. We must build on the right pattern. Jesus said in verse 26: “And every one that heareth these
sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish
man, which built his house upon the sand." “And the rain descended,
and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell." Why did it fall? Because it was built upon the sand. It
didn't have a good solid foundation. It wasn't a good solid foundation.
They didn't dig down deep and get to hard rock, to get anchored into
the rock. That man that built upon that rock dug deep. And so must
you and I if we're going to stand in these last days.
Well, bless you! Thanks for taking the time to read and consider this...
