The sparrow is a common bird, not of any contrasting or bright colors. Usually if you have some sparrows around your place you will have too many before long. The ones I have seen make unorganized nests, overtake other bird's nesting places, and are not a real beautiful song bird.
There are probably more species of sparrows than any other single bird group, with at least one hundred different kinds in Palestine. (Fausset's Bible Dictionary.) And yet God is not so busy that one little insignificant bird ever goes unnoticed.
Have you ever felt all alone? Have you thought all your efforts were dead ends or that no one even noticed, or worse yet, even cared? Have you been unable to express yourself, or to know that if you did you might not be accepted? Have you felt like giving up faith because of past failures? Have your talents been unappreciated? Whatever your problems are, GOD CARES! He is watching you! Jesus said for us to be unafraid and to remember we are of more value than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:31.) You never go unnoticed with God. How encouraging to know we are not forsaken or left alone, but God's ever caring arms are around us and His watchful eye is on us. He that keepeth Israel has no stop watch, no time card, no closing hours. (Psalm 121:4.) He is ever present to help. This is His business; it is His love for us. He knows that you are special or He never would have created you. He greatly desires for you to know of His love for you too. Romans 5:8 is positive proof. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
The same Father who watches over all who believe in His Christ, is also interested in those who have not believed. The all-observant God is a warm comfort to each one who has made the choice to follow Him. However, the man in sin does not always want to be observed because his deeds are evil. (John 3:19.) The saying, "You can run but you can't hide" is altogether true with God. He is so big He is always there before you get there.
When I see something bad has happened to a sparrow, it serves as a reminder that God has taken time to observe it too, and I know He is watching over me. Let your courage mount and "comeover" any hindrances. God is there. Since He recognizes and provides for the least of His creation, He most assuredly has His eye on you. May we live like it !
