____Luke 6:38. "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."
II. Christ Taught It A Blessing To Give.
____Acts 20:35. "I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive."
III. We're Commanded To Give
__1. To the poor.
____Mat. 19:21. "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me."
____Rom. 15:25-27. 25, But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
____26, For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
____27, It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.
__2. To the needy.
____Eph. 4:28. "Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth."
__3. To the needy saints.
____Jas. 2:15, 16. 15, If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
____16, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
____1 John 3:16-18. 16, Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
____17, But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
____18, My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
__4. To those who preach the gospel.
____1 Cor. 9:7-14. 7, Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
____8, Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
____9, For it is written in the law of Moses, thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
____10, Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
____11, If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
____12, If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
____13, Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
____14, Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
____Gal. 6:6. "Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things."
IV. As People Of God We're To Give
__1. Not grudgingly.
____2 Cor. 9:7. "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
__2. Freely.
____Mat. 10:8. "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."
__3. Cheerfully.
____2 Cor. 9:7. "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
__4. As we purpose in our heart.

__5. As we're able.
____Deut. 16:17. "Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee."
__6. As the Lord has prospered us.
____1 Cor. 16:2. "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."
__7. Not of necessity.
____2 Cor. 9:7. "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
__8. Not to be seen of men.
____Mat. 6:2-4. 2, Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
____3, But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
____4, That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
V. A Caution To The Saints.

VI. The Duty Of The Saints.
____1 Cor. 16:2. "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come."
____Gal. 6:6. "Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things."
____1 Tim. 6:17, 18. 17, Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
____18, That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
