God’s not in a hurry to cut off the adversary because He knows those weapons can’t hurt us. If we fully understand that God is our defense and that God will take care of us, there’s no need to get upset and worried about situations. We don’t have to lose our aim and miss the mark. We don’t have to fret and worry and put in sleepless nights and say, “God, when's it all going to end?” No, we can rest in peace, knowing that God's our defense. There’s no need to worry about taking vengeance into our own hands.
In Hebrews 10:30, Paul tells us, “For we know him [We’re acquainted with Him; we’re intimately related to Him.] that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, "The Lord shall judge his people." First Corinthians 6:7, tells us Paul’s advice to the church in dealing with matters of law and situations of that sort. He stated, “Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? Why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?” In essence, Paul was saying, “Why don’t you just take the wrong instead of causing turmoil. After all, God is your defense.”
Someone might say, “I want to defend myself.” But think about it...who is your defense? It’s the Lord! Why not just suffer the wrong and keep still about it? We don’t need to testify to the church about what happened by saying, “So-and-So did this to me, and I thank God He helped me through it all.” No, God gets more glory when we suffer quietly and patiently. There’s only one reason why we talk about it to others and that’s to get them to feel sorry for us...huh? God's our defense; therefore, we ought to act as if He is...and rest in confidence that God truly is our defense!
God is the church’s defense. We can’t find a greater defender than Almighty God. Why? Because; there’s not a trick that's done, that His eye can't see it; there’s not a word that’s whispered, that His ear can’t hear it; there’s not a secret held down in the heart that His mind and Spirit can’t detect it; and there’s not a motive or an attitude that He’s not well aware of it! With a God such as this, we can rest safe in His defense.
The ability of a saint to suffer wrong, which another person has committed against him, is a rare ability. To suffer a wrong that another has inflicted upon us is to bear it, to keep it to ourselves, and go right on praising God, testifying, singing, praying, and allowing God to be our defense. Nobody else will know we were wronged in any way. Again, this is a rare ability! It’s one that every one of us can work to improve. Why? Because; we’re saturated with our own feelings so much, that when things don’t go right, it’s written all over our faces. We need to learn to gain the victory by realizing that God is our defense. We don’t need to take matters into our own hands.
