A Question
Regarding Revelation 20
[ Selected ]
QUESTION:
Would you please comment
on Revelation 20?
ANSWER:
The angel represents God's
messenger / ministry; the chain represents the pure gospel
preached under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
The dragon here is the
same as in Revelation 12. You can't bind a spirit with a
literal chain.
The "thousand years"
represents a long period of time.
This chapter says nothing
about a literal kingdom here on earth, and says nothing about
people living here in a literal kingdom of a thousand years.
It speaks of "souls" i.e., those that were beheaded for the
witness of Christ. These souls are the same John saw when the
fifth seal was opened. A reading of that passage of
Scripture—Revelation 6:9-11—shows they were NOT on this earth.
Another point, those who
teach a "Rapture" teach: the first resurrection comes ahead of
the thousand years, but notice what verse five says: "But the
rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were
finished.
This is the first
resurrection."
The Bible doesn't teach
two literal resurrections of the physical bodies—separated by
1,007 years. The first resurrection is spiritual and is the
same as salvation—see Ephesians 2:1-7 and John 5:24, 25.
