How shall we maintain this watchfulness? Surely by withdrawing ourselves from the world at regular times, and getting our whole thought and inner consciousness into perspective with God's plan, fortifying ourselves with the precious promises of God, and recovering our poise and balance in the light of God's truth. Then going back to the daily task, our service will be an act of watchfulness, and all we do will be sanctified by the thought of His coming.
We shall serve no longer for the applause of our fellows, but in the light of that great day. We shall wait, not with the impatience of fretfulness, but with the quiet confidence of divine assurance. Day by day as the day draws nearer, we shall cry the more urgently, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus" (Rev. 22:20).
Keep Watching
We'll watch for His returning…With lamps well trimmed and bright; He cometh to the careless…As thieves break through at night; "Well done, thou godd and faithful" -- O may we hear the word, "Share the joy of Christ they Lord"
Looking for that blessed hope! Looking for that blessed hope! We know the hour is nearing, The hour of His appearing, We're looking for that blessed hope! [ The End ]
